The best baristas in the Eastern Cape came together on 29 – 30 July and battled it out for the coveted Barista Championship title at the Homemakers Expo in Port Elizabeth. This year, the competition was even more exciting as Ciro’s very own Angeline McLagan was awarded the Barista Champion for this region!
Angeline took a break from organising and judging at this year’s event to try her hand at competing and her extensive experience and knowledge in the world of coffee has paid off. There were 3 competitions running – the Barista Competition, the Cup Tasters Competition and the Latte Art Competition, which are the exact same format as the World Coffee Events allowing us to see the immense skill and expertise of the best baristas in the region before a panel of judges. As someone who has dedicated her coffee career to helping others learn and achieve, we are so proud to see her gain this recognition. Angeline will now be traveling to the National Barista Competition, to compete for the coveted SA title, later this year.
