Founded in 1950, the WorldSkills Competitions are the gold standard of skills excellence. They inspire young Competitors to reach new heights, helping them turn their passion into a profession. WorldSkills has built a movement that is changing the lives of young people through skills such as Plumbing, Brick Laying, Beauty Therapy, Carpentry & Restaurant Services. Together with Member organizations and Global Partners, they run skill competitions, projects and conferences which create measurable impact at every level.
This year, one of our very own has exceeded expectations! Yanga Jili is a student at EKURHULENI WEST TVET COLLEGE currently studying hospitality. Recently he won the Restaurant Service Award at the National World Skills (South Africa) competition in June 2022. Due to his success in South Arica he qualififed to compete at the World Skills Special Edition 2022 hosted in Switzerland. Competing against 22 other countries such as France, Spain & Finland.
Lesetja Lazarus Kgole, Lecturer at EWC trained him in the preparation for this years edition of the competition in Switzerland. Ciro Coffee Academy partnered with Chef Citrum Khumalo and EWC to train Yanga on the Barista Skills needed to compete on a world stage. We are very proud of Yanga for the effort he put in to represent South Africa at World Skills in Switzerland.
Yanga Jili is a student in EKURHULENI WEST TVET COLLEGE (EWC) doing Hospitality Nated studies, he won the National World Skills South Africa competition in June 2022, he then competed in the World Skills Special Edition 2022 in Switzerland competing against 22 other countries such as France, Switzerland, India. Lesetja Lazarus Kgole (Lecturer at EWC) trained him in the preparatios for this competition.
