ABOUT THE CIRO COFFEE ACADEMY -
COFFEE TRAINING IN SOUTH AFRICA
South Africa is setting new global standards by ensuring that tourism is economically and socially sustainable. There is also no doubt that, as a preferred travel destination, South Africa is becoming increasingly globally competitive and a force to be reckoned with.
The primary function of a coffee shop is to deliver total quality products and services to its target markets. This can only be achieved by creating an environment in which management and staff are enabled to offer constantly improving quality work, generated from their educational and trained abilities. The question is raised of how to improve its employee’s skill.
A qualification will improve the trainee's self esteem and add value to the type of service offered at the organization employed at. Professional service is sought after in the Hospitality industry, thus professional training is highly recommended. Baristas in coffee shops are trained by their managers, whom often cannot provide them with an appropriate qualification as proof of their capabilities. The need for training employees or prospective employees in specific job allocations, should be highly considered by employers and training institutions. This is necessary for the sustainability of South Africa's tourism sector. Specialised service should be offered, thus specialized training is needed.
The Ciro Coffee Academy is a public training provider in the coffee industry, but stays neutral in offering any brand-linked product, thus exposing the trainees to as many brands/methods/techniques as possible.
The Ciro Coffee Academy is the first South African provider to offer the internationally accredited certificate in Barista Skills (City & Guilds). The Ciro Coffee Academy stands in the service of the Hospitality and Tourism Industry of South Africa, and will promote any/all products as and when necessary to its trainees to ensure they will be able to make informed decisions when performing their jobs. The Ciro Coffee Academy takes up the responsibility to offer impeccable service to its clients through the belief of integrity, honesty and excellence. The Ciro Coffee Academy's standards are aligned with the World Barista Championship’s standards.

Training current and future Baristas in South Africa in the preparation and service of quality espresso based and other drinks.
MISSION STATEMENT
- To train people in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry on speciality coffee and other related programmes
- To provide knowledge of the speciality coffee industry to future hotel and restaurant owners/managers
- To expose future hotel and restaurant owners/managers to the various Ciro and Lavazza blends of coffee, as well as top class equipment for home and commercial use
- To ensure that this training is offered professionally, with proper monitoring and feedback to clients
- To add value to the Hospitality and Tourism Industry’s products and services offered
- To join in improving the Nation's skills in the coffee industry, with training offered by highly passionate and competent trainers
